Delivery Methodology - Hosting Services
IIC provides our customers with a full range of hosting solutions that includes application, data, and web hosting. IIC’s hosting solutions are housed in our secure state-of-the-art data center in Poughkeepsie, New York and are supported by our dedicated team of in-house hosting and support specialists. IIC provides two models for hosting services: server co-location and software as a service (SaaS):
Hosting Service Models:
- Server Co-location: In this model, hardware and software assets remain property of the customer, but the servers are physically re-located to IIC’s data center facility. Under the co-location model, IIC is responsible for providing all required rack space and interconnectivity as well as ancillary support (electricity, heating/cooling, emergency UPS back-up, security, etc.) required to support the operations of the co-located server hardware and software.
- Software as a Service (SaaS): In order to minimize capital investments in server infrastructure and to maintain maximum flexibility in matching server capacity to demand, IIC provides application hosting using the SaaS model. Under this model, IIC owns and maintains all of the server assets, including hardware, operating system software, and middleware, required to deliver the applications required by the customer. The applications are deployed and supported on a subscription basis, eliminating software capital investments. In order to ensure that customer requirements are met under the SaaS model, IIC, in conjunction with the customer, prepares comprehensive Service Level Agreements (SLAs) to define the performance levels IIC is committed to achieving. Under the SaaS model, IIC will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the hardware and software environments as required to meet the SLAs.
In order to ensure the highest level of server availability, IIC will design and implement a custom availability management plan. To support the execution of this plan, IIC relies on tools that enable remote monitoring, logging, and reporting for all IIC-managed servers and most attached devices (switches, routers, hubs, network printers, end-user computers and peripheral equipment). Remote monitoring enables IIC to address issues as they arise, often without impacting end users, and to proactively address potential issues before they impact end-users. Remote monitoring also provides essential data that serves as an input to IIC’s continuous improvement analysis efforts to improve the reliability and performance of our customers’ IT infrastructure and to address capacity issues before they affect productivity. IIC uses a variety of applications for remote monitoring, including Managed Workplace, Solarwinds, and other SNMP/WMI based applications.
