Technical Publications Manager.

Our client is experiencing a pivotal moment in there expansion! They are in search of a Technical Publications Manager to become a crucial part of the dynamic team. Here is what the role entails:

1. Empowering a Team: Lead and inspire a talented team of around 10 individuals, including Technical Authors and Illustrators.

2. Client Engagement: Work closely with both existing and prospective clients, lending your expertise to our sales department in crafting compelling quotations.

3. Data Detective: Dive into source data to understand its implications on technical publications, ensuring accuracy and relevance.

4. Stakeholder Connection: Identify key stakeholders to create or revise technical publications that align with the client's exact needs.

5. Efficient Resource Management: Skilfully manage workloads, making the most of available resources to accommodate changes and produce new technical publications efficiently.

6. Quality Control: Deliver draft technical publications for engineering governance, ensuring they meet our high standards within agreed timeframes.

7. Support Hub: Be the go-to person for resolving technical queries related to publications from both internal and external stakeholders.

8. Progress Reporting: Provide regular updates on the status of technical publication tasks as required.

What we are Looking For:

Experience/Skills:

  1. A rich background in engineering and/or Defence with a minimum of two years in a managerial authoring role.
  2. The ability to craft precise and comprehensive operating and maintenance manuals based on various source information, including engineering drawings.
  3. Proficiency in working under tight time constraints.
  4. Excellent command of Microsoft Office.
  5. Strong familiarity with Defence Publications like AESPs, APs, and BRs.
  6. Experience in managing small teams and the ability to coordinate workflows for timely, budget-compliant project deliveries.
  7. Two years of project management experience or a recognized Project Management qualification (e.g., APMP or Prince 2).
  8. Sound knowledge of DE&S working practices and procedures.
