Background

A global financial advisory firm headquartered in New York, specializing in Mergers & Acquisitions, risk management, corporate governance, and government regulatory matters, made a strategic decision to establish its first India presence through a Global Capability Centre (GCC). The firm entered India through a phased GCC build, establishing its first operations in Mumbai before expanding into Bengaluru and Hyderabad. Indotronix was selected as one of a small panel of staffing partners to resource the build. Over the course of the engagement, we became the panel’s top-ranked supplier.

The Market Context

The client entered India at a point of peak GCC activity. Dozens of GCCs have been established over the last 3 years, intensifying competition for the same senior profiles across the same three cities. Hiring pressure in Bengaluru and Hyderabad in particular has created a serious talent bottleneck, making those markets increasingly expensive and slower to convert.

For a firm with no existing India brand presence, no internal pipeline, and a multi-function brief to execute simultaneously, that environment demanded a staffing partner who could move fast without inflating cost.

Challenges

Challenges

Three factors defined the complexity of this engagement:

Scope across every function. The brief was not a single-discipline hire. It spanned IT, Legal, HR, and corporate functions for both full-time and part-time roles from a clean slate. Procurement and HR teams managing a build of this kind typically face a fundamental challenge: the need for speed conflicts directly with the need for quality screening at volume. Across India’s GCC market, 58% of organizations take more than 45 days to fill critical roles, a figure that compounds quickly when you are hiring across multiple functions and cities in parallel.

A mixed employment model. Structuring a GCC with both full-time and part-time roles from day one is operationally sensible, but it adds sourcing complexity. Candidate assessment, offer structure, and pipeline management each require a different approach depending on employment type. Most generalist suppliers’ default to one model. This engagement required fluency across both.

Three cities, each with its own talent market. Bengaluru leads in technology and R&D, Hyderabad has emerged as a rising innovation hub, and Mumbai holds established depth in BFSI and financial domain expertise. Executing consistently across all three while managing cost in major metropolitan centers requires city-level knowledge, not a single national strategy. Layered onto this is a practical constraint that procurement and HR leads know well: most professional services firms in India mandate 90-day notice periods for experienced hires. Offer-to-start timelines must be built around that reality. Suppliers who don’t plan for it create gaps in the client’s onboarding schedule.

How We Delivered

Twelve senior recruiters and a dedicated account manager were assigned from the outset. The account manager served as a single point of contact for the client over the 28 month project duration maintaining visibility at every stage of the hiring cycle and flagging issues before they became delays.

The team operated on a precision-recruitment model rather than a volume pipeline. Every candidate was hand-screened against the brief, with recruiters tracking both market conditions and the client’s evolving requirements in real time. That continuity of knowledge is what allowed quality to hold as hiring scaled across three cities simultaneously.

Where urgent gaps required an immediate solution, contract / temporary staffing was used to maintain operational continuity while permanent hiring progressed avoiding the false choice between speed and quality that procurement and HR teams are too often asked to make.

Results

  • 550+ professionals placed across Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad over 28 months, spanning IT, Legal, HR, and corporate functions at full-time and part-time capacity, including senior-level appointments.
  • Ranked top-performing supplier on the panel.
  • $500,000+ delivered in savings against projected hiring costs.

What This Demonstrates

A GCC build does not stay still. Headcount targets shift, timelines compress, and the brief that made sense at kick-off looks different six months in. What separates a capable staffing partner from a transactional one is performance under those conditions: quality that holds when volume increases, cost discipline that survives multiple markets, and enough operational proximity to stay relevant when the hard decisions arrive.
